The Community Services Board shall have the responsibility to advise the city council and city staff on policy matters related to the operation and maintenance of city parks, parkways, the city civic center and other recreation facilities on or in any public grounds or buildings.
Regularly scheduled meetings are held at 5 p.m. the fourth Thursday of January, March, May, July, and September, and the first Tuesday of November. Such will be held at City Hall in the Council Chambers commencing at the designated time unless the board votes to change/cancel a meeting due to a holiday or other conflict. Special called meetings may also be scheduled by the board chair.
The term of office of the members of the said Board shall, subject to the provisions relative to their removal, be two years. Members of the Community Services Board shall serve without compensation. Members shall be appointed to staggered terms with five members appointed in even-numbered years and four members appointed in odd-numbered years. The term of each member shall continue until a new member is appointed or such current member is reappointed.
The voluntary absence of a board member from three consecutive meetings or absences constituting 50% of the meetings will result in automatic resignation of the member from the board.
