The Park at Legacy Fields covers 3.5 acres and is El Campo's first and only handicap accessible playground. Each section of the park was designed to have an agricultural theme in honor the importance of agriculture to the El Campo area.
The Park is designed primarily for children ages toddler through 12, and each section of the park is designed for different age groups based on the size and complexity of the equipment.
El Campo's new park has two attractions that will be fairly unique this city. A maze has everything from a board walk, to swing bridge, to truck tires to crawl through to a traverse wall to climb along. It also has climbing ropes to test skill and strength. Another unique feature are hay bale climbers which were designed and built specifically for this park.
The Park has chicken coops, various types of swings, picnic tables, barbecue pits, restrooms and a 3/4-size basketball court built with the assistance of the Lower Colorado River Authority.
Legacy Fields also includes a 4-acre pond adjacent to The Park. Plans call for stocking it with fish. Initially, probably the first couple of years, fishing will be allowed but on a catch-and-release basis. Once officials feel the fish population has grown and needs to be thinned out, fish may be kept. All Texas freshwater fishing regulations must be adhered to.
