The Board of Adjustment hears and decides appeals for dimensional variances, special exceptions / conditional uses and administrative denials.
Meetings:
Meetings are scheduled the 3rd Thursday of each month 5:00 p.m. City Hall Council Chambers.
Membership and Terms:
City Charter Sec. 8.04 states that City Council shall provide for the appointment of a Board of Adjustment, whose members shall be residents of the City of El Campo, serve without compensation and not be employed or hold any other position in the city government. The term of office, powers of the Board of Adjustment and rules of procedure for operation of such board shall be established by ordinance of the City Council.
Per City Ordinance City Council shall appoint seven (7) members, designating five (5) members as regular members and designating two (2) members as alternates serving two (2) year terms.
Four (4) members constitutes a quorum.
The voluntary absence of a board or commission member from three (3) consecutive meetings or absences constituting 50% of the meetings that have more than one meeting called or scheduled over a twelve (12) month period will result in automatic resignation of the member.
The authority of this board was established in Local Government Code Chapter 211.
